Wellwood Area of Molasses Reef AM

This afternoon at Molasses Coral Restoration Foundation, NOAA, and Mote to name a few have done such an excellent job over the past few years re-planting thousands of corals at this location. We are super happy that Hurricane IRMA last year saved this end of Molasses Reef, having hardly done any damage at all. There is tons of old ship wreckage in this area to explore which is another reason why we love taking our guests to this location.

Sand Island Reef AM

The second site at Sand Island Reef Folk lure tells the tale of pre-hurricane Donna a lone coconut tree stood on a tiny sand mound island here. Post that hurricane washing away the tree and top of mound of sand all that remains is one of the most coral filled sites post hurricane IRMA 2017. The huge field of Elkhorn Corals were not touched at all by IRMA when she passed over in September 2017. This patch of corals attracts a massive variety of reef fish that call it home. Having a nice size coral swim through and tons of giant anemone for scuba diving guests as well as tops of corals only 12 feet below the surface makes the a true Key Largo gem location for combo tours of diving and snorkeling guests.
