Sail Fish Scuba: Due to global concerns for health right now, everyone is asking the same question. “How Is Rental Gear Cleaned And Sanitized?”
And for good reason this is a common question we are getting right now.

How We Clean Items That Touch Faces and Mouths

First, we want to advise that we have always used 1 full cup of bleach in our 15 Gallon rinse bin solely used for regulators and mask/snorkel combos. This bin holds all regulators, masks, and snorkels for at least 10 minutes soak post use by all our guests.

New Steps We Added To Cleaning and Sanitizing Gear

Now however, we have changed this a bit. We reduced the 15 gallons of water in this bin down to 5 gallons of water, and then added to this pure bleach to ensure the bleach ratio is at least 10% for highest level safety. Post guest use now, we do soak all regulators, mask, snorkels for a min. of 20 minutes for the highest possible level safety.
Secondly, we have now added spray bottles of pure germ-killing Listerine for all our guests to spray all regulators, masks, and snorkels directly before use. We have these spray bottle of Listerine placed all around the shop and boat and then advise guests to use the sink for a rinse with their own hands post Listerine application. This way no one else is touching this gear except the rental guest user and they have cleaned it pre-use to their satisfaction.
On the boat the mask buckets now remain empty and dry and only hold the bottles of spray Listerine, spray defog, and spray fresh water for rinsing by guest before placing on face for tour.
So this is our answer to the common questions: “How Is Rental Gear Cleaned And Sanitized?”
